The ICB senior bookkeeper certificate is a great program to study if you want to start a career in bookkeeping. You can also further your career after completing this qualification by gaining entry into the junior accountant program.

Functions of a Senior Bookkeeper
Once you have completed our ICB Senior Bookkeeper qualification you will be able to fulfil the following tasks:
- You will complete the monthly and annual books for the business
- Do depreciable asset disposal
- You will do the year-end adjustments
- Preparation and analysis of financial statements for sole proprietorships, partnerships, close corporations, companies
- Prepare cash-flow statements
- Complete the basic management accounts
- Cost accounting, including breakeven analysis, cost-volume-profit analysis, advanced costing, budgeting and standard costing
- Financial management
- Understand and follow correct business ethics
Subjects in the ICB Senior Bookkeeper program
You will need to complete the ICB junior bookkeeper program in order to be given access to the ICB senior bookkeeping program. The junior bookkeeping program gives you the basic foundation level skills that you need in order to progress to the more complex concepts you need to be able to manage in the senior bookkeeper program.
You will first need to complete all four subjects in the Junior Bookkeeper program. Then you will study the following subjects in the ICB Senior Bookkeeper program:
- Financial Statements
- Cost and Management Accounting
You will again be sent your PoE when you book to write your ICB senior bookkeeper exam. You will need to complete all the activities, evaluations and assignments before the exam, and take them along on the day.
You will then write the exam, and place it in your folder along with the work that you completed at home. You then hand in the entire folder.
The work you do at home counts for 30% of your final mark, and the exam counts for 70%.
How long will you have to complete the course?
You will have taken 12 to 18 months to complete the foundation level junior bookkeeper program. The ICB Senior Bookkeeper course will take you a further 6 to 9 months to complete.
What certificate will you be awarded?
Once you have passed the two subjects in the ICB senior bookkeeper program the ICB will issue you with the program completion certificate. The ICB will also inform FASSET who will isse you with the FET Certificate in Bookkeeping (Certified Senior Bookkeeping).
TWP Academy will also award you a program completion certificate that you can use in your CV until your FASSET certificate arrives. Remember it takes from 6 months to a year to get the FASSET certificate so you do need to be patient.
