ICB re-assessments are a way for you to have a second chance at any ICB exam should you need it. If you cant make the exam, are ill, or in the worst case you do not pass you will have a chance for a do over. ICB reassessments is your chance for a come back!
The most important thing to remember is that you can only as for ICB re-assessments once on any subject. And you have to do your ICB reassessments within 6 months of when you wrote/ were supposed to write your previous exam. There are also very careful rules around this, so make sure you understand this information.
What happens if I can’t make my ICB exam?
If you need to postpone your assessment before your assessment date, you will need to submit your application for postponement before the cut off date. If you are on time, you can postpone by paying the postponement fee.
If you need to postpone your assessment because you’re ill on the day, you can apply for a free postponement (include a doctor’s certificate with your request), which may be issued at the ICB’s discretion. You will only be allowed to postpone your assessment on a subject once.
What happens if I fail my ICB exam?
If you fail your ICB exam you can apply for ICB re-assessments. So don’t panic! If you do not pass first time, you can get a second chance. You need to be assessed as “competent” if you are to pass a subject. That means you have to get at least 50% in your final exam, and 60% overall for your final mark.
If you are assessed as ‘not yet competent’ in a subject (you did not pass it), you will have a chance to write one re-assessment, which is a summative final exam. This exam has no PoE, and it has a pass mark of 60%. That means that only the exam is taken into consideration, so you need to prepare for the exam very carefully.
Rules for ICB re-assessments
You must complete the ICB re-assessments within 12 months of your original exam date. We do recommend you write your re-assessments as soon as you can, as subject content does change. It will also mean that the subject matter is still fresh in your mind from the first exam, so please do go for re-assessment as soon as possible.
If you miss your re-assessment, or you are ‘not yet competent’ in it, you can’t redo it. This does not mean that your study journey is over. It simply means that you need to re-enter for the subject and start it over by completing a new PoE.
Important: You may only request ONE postponement with the ICB re-assessments. Your assessment will automatically be moved to the next scheduled assessment date.
