The ICB National Diploma Certified Financial Accounting Qualification ins the first choice for anyone that does not qualify for university studies, but still wants an great career in the accounting field.

 

Why should I study ICB Certified Financial Accounting?

Financial accounting is an excellent career choice, with great salary prospects as you gain experience and take on more senior roles.  And the great thing is that everyone needs accountants – be that public or private enterprise, and in any in sector! ICB national diploma certified financial accounting

There is also a shortage of accountants in South Africa, so it is a wise choice of career for future prospects.

A Certified Financial Accountant is primarily responsible for, amongst other functions:

  • All Financial Accountant functions,
  • The Accounting Officer functions,
  • Preparation of annual financial statements,
  • Signing off annual financial statements of close corporations,
  • Working closely with the Chartered Certified Accountant and Registered Auditor,
  • Thorough knowledge of corporate strategy, management accounting control systems, financial reporting and regulatory frameworks (particularly IFRS), and accounting theory and practice.

 

How will this course be structured?

In order to complete the Certified Financial Accounting National Diploma, students will have to complete all the following subjects:

  • Business Literacy
  • Bookkeeping to Trial Balance
  • Payroll and Monthly SARS Returns
  • Computerised Bookkeeping
  • Financial Statements
  • Cost and Management Accounting
  • Income Tax Returns
  • Business Law and Accounting Control
  • Corporate Strategy
  • Management Accounting Control Systems
  • Financial Reporting and Regulatory Frameworks
  • Accounting Theory and Practice
  • Income Tax Returns
  • Business Law and Accounting Control
  • Corporate Strategy
  • Management Accounting Control Systems
  • Financial Reporting and Regulatory Frameworks
  • Accounting Theory and Practice(Please note that there is a Dissertation required for this subject.)

 

How will I be assessed?

Assessment is based on the submission of a Portfolio of Evidence (PoE) which will comprise of formative activities and evaluations, as well as one summative assessment (final exam). PoE assessment comprises formative / interim assessment of activities (assignments) and evaluations (tests) that count 30% towards the total mark. A Summative Assessment (final exam) contributes to the remaining 70% of your marks. The PoE is basically a file containing all the evidence necessary for a learner to be declared competent against the relevant outcomes.
Please Note: There will be a dissertation required for the subject ‘Accounting Theory and Practice’.

 

How long is the course?

For a distance learning student who is working and studying at the same time this course will take up to 4 years to complete.  It can go much faster if you are studying full time.

 

What certificate will I get?

You will be awarded a National Diploma:Certified Financial Accounting from FASSET. You will be awarded a Programme Completion Certificate from the ICB.
